UNDERSTANDING SPONSORSHIP
Family Sponsorship Is More Than Proving a Relationship
Canada's family sponsorship programs may allow eligible citizens
and permanent residents to help qualifying family members become
permanent residents.
A complete application must establish the sponsor's eligibility,
the qualifying family relationship, the applicant's admissibility
and the sponsor's ability to honour the required undertaking.
The evidence required will depend on who you are sponsoring,
where they currently live, their immigration status, accompanying
dependants and the history of the relationship.
Every family situation is different.
Marriage, cohabitation, previous relationships, dependent
children, custody arrangements and immigration history can
affect how an application should be prepared.
